UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP:
Jan & Colin Pauling purchased the lodge in May 2022,
“We have been entrusted with running the beautiful lodge moving forward and carrying on the extraordinary high standards set by the previous owners.”
This is also our home, we enjoy the peaceful environment and the stunning views all year round. We look forward to sharing it with you.
We have own ideas on how the lodge is run and presented, the underlying guideline however, a commitment to offering the same very high standard of amenity and service the previous owners have done for the past 20 years.
We look forward to meeting you and being of service.
The pool is warming up, its heated to around 22 degrees from November through until April.
The spa is fully operational at a warm 38.5 degrees.
The Guest Drawing Room
The Drawing Room with its grand Victorian fireplace and opulent plastered ceiling is the heart of the house.
All Suites connect to the Drawing Room which provides a restful, warm place to be. Savour a wine in front of an open fire, read a book or listen to your choice of music.
Complimentary tea and coffee is available at all times. We have a range of local beers and wines to purchase.
The Gardens
Stroll though, relax and enjoy the gardens which incorporate elements of
New Zealand's natural heritage and cultural landscape.
Endangered and uncommon native species are planted in combination
with exotic flowering perennials in an integrated 'native' garden.
Pool & Spa
We regret to inform that the pool is currently closed.
However, our spa is fully operational.
The pool area is secluded from the main house for greater privacy.
History
In 1999 Ed & Ann discovered the land by accident in a local chronicle.
The magnificence of the view and the level building site were an immediate attraction and thus the concept was born.
To do justice to the site, bearing mind this was rich dairy country not unlike parts of Britain,
a draft plan was sketched up based on a traditional English country style home integrating many local features.
The entire project was designed by Ed & Ann, drawing on their 35 years of experience in hospitality,
love of traditional architecture and with the help of their adult children.
All of the building construction work was done by Ed with the help of local carpenters.
The Lodge was officially opened in January 2004 with a blessing ceremony.
