Exquisite cedar joinery
Delightful elegance coupled with amazing views. An upmarket B & B close to Tirau, Matamata, Cambridge. This couple know hospitality; 30 + years in the field and it showed in the room and breakfast. An amazing aqua-jet/massage shower was a bonus!
Fantastic, worth the trip!
A wonderful location to stay especially if you are visiting Hobbiton. The owners Anne & Eddie are fantastic! I was even given banana cake upon my arrival which was very nice and unexpected. The room was clean and view was great, though the several days I stayed it was rainy and cold. If you are allergic to bees, this might not be a great choice, as there were many flying about outside especially in a tree close to my room patio. We rented a car and drove to the lodge from Auckland, if you are worried that you might run out of gas, there isn't a lot to do that isn't less than 20-30 minutes away but this is a wonderful place to stay and can offer some nice walks.
Quite and relaxing
Ann and Eddie are fantastic hosts. We arrived after 9 in the evening and Eddie was there to welcome us and make us feel at home. Our room was very comfortable and the shower was amazing. Slept soundly and woke up to a brilliant breakfast prepared by our hosts. Sitting around and chatting with both of them was very interesting. A lot of local knowledge.Highly recommend.
Enjoyed our stay
My husband and I stayed in this deluxe B&B for eight nights so we could attend an event nearby. Our room, personal patio (with view of the lake & countryside) and breakfast were lovely. Being in a dark rural setting, this is a stargazer's paradise. There are many great restaurant options in prosperous Cambridge a 15-20 minute drive away and one or two others in Tirau a 10 minute drive away. The lodge is a good base for day trips (e.g. Otorohanga Kiwi and Bird Park, Rotorua, Waimangu Reserve, Hobbiton, glowworm caves, lake kayaking etc.). Eddie and Ann were very helpful.
