Waikato River Trails
The Waikato River Trails are proud to be a member of the New Zealand Cycle Trails network. These great rides are centrally located close to Karapiro Lodge. The trails are popular with both cyclists and walkers.
The 100km of off-road trails travel south as it heads upstream alongside New Zealand’s longest river. With hydro dams, suspension bridges and exhilarating downhills, there is plenty for all mountain bikers to enjoy. The Karapiro section offers fantastic views of Lake Karapiro and the 1929 Arapuni Power Station.
A great bike ride has also become a great walk for many, in fact 30% of the trails use is enjoyed by runners and walkers. A few km at a time to half day and full day walks are popular.
